Solveig M. Lindvall, 82, Grand Forks, died Friday, May 19, 2017 in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks. Solveig Margaret Nelson, the daughter of Jacob and Martha (Dahl) Nelson, was born October 25, 1934 at McVille, North Dakota. She attended country schools in Wamduska Township and graduated from Lakota High School. She attended Mayville State Teacher’s College and then taught in a one room school for one year. She went on to attend Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. Solveig was united in marriage to Roy A. Lindvall on June 10, 1955 at Center Lutheran Church, Rural McVille, North Dakota. Solveig and Roy were blessed with three children, Russell, Susan, and Laurie. They lived and farmed in Center Township. They later bought a home in Grand Forks and spent time both on the farm at McVille and in Grand Forks. Solveig was a talented musician and it brought her great joy to sing, play the piano and accordion, and she was a church organist for many years. She loved to oil paint landscapes, portraits and flowers on canvas, and was an accomplished rosemaler. Solveig is survived by her husband, Roy, Grand Forks; two children, Russell Lindvall, Grand Forks, and Susan (Joseph) Karpowicz, Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Andrew, Jason, and Amber (Nick); a brother, Norris (Lavonne) Nelson, Thompson, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Martha; a daughter, Laurie Ann Lindvall; a brother, Norman Nelson; and an infant sister, Norma. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd ST., Grand Forks. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Following the service, interment will be at 1:45 p.m. in Center Lutheran Cemetery, Rural McVille, North Dakota. Memorials are preferred to Center Lutheran Cemetery.
