Beulah Hodges, 97, Grand Forks, ND, died Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center, Grand Forks. Beulah Irene Irwin was born on October 28, 1919 in Ardoch, ND, the daughter of Cecil and Alice (Carnes) Irwin. She grew up on the Irwin family farm, and attended and graduated from Johnstown High School before attending Concordia College in Moorhead, MN from 1937-1938. Beulah married Jimmie Hodges on February 11, 1945. They had a son, Dennis, on March 6, 1946.She was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Grand Forks. Beulah worked for the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroad for 31 years before retiring in 1980 to take care of her mother. Beulah and Alice are often remembered for their twice daily walks at the Columbia Mall, after eating at the Village Inn or the Royal Fork. Beulah loved to travel. She made many quilts, all sewn by hand, that are cherished by her family and church. Survivors include three grandsons, Thomas Hodges, Michael Hodges, and Christopher Hodges; and many great-nieces and great-nephews who loved her like a grandmother. Beulah was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, her son, Dennis Hodges, and her nieces, Muriel Wilson, Jacqueline Parke, Arlene Lucke. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
