Esther R. Eichhorst, 101, Thompson, North Dakota, died Sunday, June 18, 2017 in 4000 Valley Square-Woodside Village. Esther was born on June 13, 1916 in the Thompson, ND area to Ernest and Eda (Bohlman) Eichhorst. She graduated from Thompson Public Schools. Esther began a long career with the US Postal Service, working much of her career in Thompson, ND, and later in Grand Forks until she retired. She never married, but spent many years caring for her parents at home. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Thompson and was a member of the ladies aide. Esther enjoyed making donuts and lefse with the ladies of the church. Her passion was working in her yard and in her garden. Esther is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Eda; siblings, Ella Kuberra, Edward Eichhorst, William Eichhorst, Ervin Eichhorst, Elroy Eichhorst and Ernest Eichhorst, Jr. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 in the Havig-Heen Auditorium Chapel at 4000 Valley Square Woodside Village, Grand Forks. Visitation will be for a half hour prior to the service in the chapel. Interment will be in Thompson Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to 4000 Valley Square-Woodside Village.
