Glenn Rudrud

  Glenn T. Rudrud, 87, Grand Forks, ND, died Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Valley Memorial Home Woodside Village. Glenn Thomas Rudrud was born April 1, 1930 in Honeyford, ND, the son of Thomas and Gunhild (Nyflot) Rudrud. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Honeyford. Glenn graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1948 He worked at several jobs until joining the U. S. Air Force in 1951. He completed his basic training in San Antonio, TX, then served with the military police in Florida and in Iceland before his honorable discharge in 1955. Glenn returned to Grand Forks and worked for Standard Oil before beginning his career with the Grand Forks Sherwin Williams Paint Store where he retired as Assistant Manager after 30 years. Glenn volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program. He also visited veterans in the hospital and rehabilitation center. He enjoyed playing cards, playing pool, the Hardees coffee group and was a member of the Elks, the Sunrisers Kiwanis and the Sons of Norway. Glenn also enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s events and spending time with them. Glenn married Mildred Trageton on June 28, 1958 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Northwood, ND. Mildred died May 10, 2017. Survivors include his children, Diane (Art) Nielsen, Grand Forks, Dean (Kim) Rudrud, Eden Prairie, MN, and David Rudrud, Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Paige (Bryan) Sims, John Nielsen, Dillon Rudrud, Brady Rudrud and Spencer Rudrud; great granddaughter, Emmalyn Sims; brother, Ron (Joanne) Rudrud, Lakeville, MN. Glenn was preceded in death by his sister, Doris (Reed) Humpherys and by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. The Rudrud family would like to thank the staff of Valley Memorial Home Woodside Village. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, June 23, 2017 in United Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery of Honeyford, ND. Military honors will be conducted by the U. S. Air Force, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are asked to be directed to Valley Memorial Home Woodside Village, United Lutheran Church or the Grand Forks Senior Center.
