Richard A. Aamot, 83, of West Fargo, ND passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 17, 2017 at Villa Maria. Richard Arthur Aamot, was born on August 30, 1933 in Langdon, ND. On March 24, 1953, in Crookston, MN, Richard was united in marriage to Darlyne Wright, of Larimore, ND. He served in the US Air Force as a Jet Mechanic and a Gunner on B52 Bombers, flying in 22 missions during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at the Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, SD followed by Air Force Bases in Minot, Grand Forks, Germany, Libya, Thailand and Guam. Richard retired from the US Air Force after 20 years of service. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Martha Aamot; sister, Ellen Rosson; and Grandson Chad. Richard is survived by his wife of 64 years, Darlyne and three children, Kathy (Dave) Lundeen, Rick (Bonnie) Aamot, Grand Forks, ND, and David (Ellen) Aamot, West Fargo, ND; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Heather) Lundeen, Katie (John) Naughton, April (Andy) Klaers, Joey, Jordan, Megan & Natalie Aamot; 7 Great Grandchildren; and Sister, Patricia Bauer, Blackduck, MN. Richard was a very loving and caring Husband, Father and Grandfather – he loved to fish, play cards, read Louis L'Amour books, and spend time with his family. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at Augustana Lutheran Church 520 University Ave. in Grand Forks. Visitation: One hour prior to the service in the church. Interment: Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
