Marie Zejdlik, 86, Grand Forks, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Altru Hospital. Marie was born November 3, 1930 in Grand Forks, the daughter of Louis and Agnes (Kenney) Kohl. She grew up and attended school in Grand Forks, graduating from Central High School in 1948. Marie married Bernard Zejdlik in 1953 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks. She worked cleaning homes and as the popcorn lady at the “Old Barn” and UND Field House. Marie was a member of the VFW Auxiliary post 1874 in Grand Forks for 64 years. Through the years she held many different positions, serving as past president, and she held every office through her years. She would volunteer for many of the activities including the turkey bingo. Marie also was a voter registration official at Winship School for almost 30 years. Marie was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, where she was a member of the lady’s circle. She also liked to camp at Gull Lake, MN, fish, and spend time with her family. Marie is survived by her husband; Bernard, children: Jim (Sandy) Zejdlik, Grafton, ND; Debra Moriarty, East Grand Forks, MN; Ron (Judy) Zejdlik, Allen, TX; Chuck Zejdlik, West Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Shawn (Kelli) Zejdlik, Grand Forks, ND; Jeremy (Dolores) Zejdlik, Grafton, ND; Ryan Zejdlik, Ayer, MA; Keith (Elizabeth) Zejdlik, San Antonio, TX; Josh (Fenny) Zejdlik, Pasadena, MD; Nick Zejdlik, Allen, TX; great grandchildren: Cassidee Laier, Devils Lake, ND; Davian Zejdlik, Minot, ND; Addison Zejdlik, Amelia Zejdlik, both of Grand Forks, ND, and Elara Zejdlik, San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Harry, Ed, George, and Robert and her dog Haydes. Mass of Christian Burial Will be held Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Grand Forks. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 5 – 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the start of the service in the church. Burial will be held in Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society or the Grand Forks VFW Auxiliary Post 1874 in Marie’s name.
