Nancy Lou Hagen Koch was born January 30, 1931 in Rochester Minnesota to Elmer and Emma Hagen. Nancy attended Hawthorn Elementary in Rochester. She later graduated from the U of M with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy in 1953. On August 14, 1954 she married Kenny Koch. They lived in El Paso Texas, Valparaiso Indiana and then settled down in Grand Forks where they raised their 5 boys. She worked part time for 25 years at Valley Memorial Nursing Home. Ken and Nancy were active members of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Nancy enjoyed golf and was inducted into the North Dakota Woman's Golf Hall of Fame. She was an active Park Board member for many years. She enjoyed playing golf, tennis, bridge, doing puzzles and many other games. Nancy also loved to travel, camp and visit family and friends. Nancy was happiest when family came to visit and will forever be remembered for her home cooked meals and buttered popcorn. Nancy passed away surrounded by family on June 26th, 2017 at Valley Eldercare. She is survived by sons, Steve-Santa Clarita CA, Bob (Ann)-Phoenix AZ, Tom (Michelle)-Menagha MN, Dave (Tori)-Scottsdale AZ, John (Cheri)- Fargo, ND. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ken, her parents and 3 sisters Arleen, Elizabeth and Mildred. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2017 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1710 Cherry St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church.
