Herbert “Herb” L. Valgren, 70, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2017 at his home. Herb was born September 30, 1946, in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Vernon and Esther (Scheel) Valgren. His 30 plus year career was spent in the Grand Forks Public School District, retiring at Red River High School. He taught mathematics and also was the computer administrator at Schroder Junior High School and Red River High School. He coached wrestling and football and spent lots of time in the weight room. Herb’s hobbies varied from wood working, reading, bird watching, hunting, camping, running, and aviation. He built and piloted his own plane. He enjoyed wrestling and teasing his grandchildren. He volunteered and lead Habitat for Humanity. As well as serving for EAA Chapter 380. Herb is survived by his wife Gloria (Holm) Valgren, daughters Angela Peterson and Lisa Cavanaugh, 7 grandchildren: Brittney, Nicholas, Amanda, Andrew, Aaron, Adam, Marc, and great granddaughter Justyce. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Tisha Valgren. Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1710 Cherry St, Grand Forks. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home with a time of sharing at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the start of the service at the church. Interment will be held in Memorial Park North Cemetery.
