Jason Boppre

January 9, 1978 — July 18, 2017

Jason Scott Boppre was born January 9, 1978, a son of Greg and Jeanne (Weeks) Boppre. He was raised in Grand Forks/East Grand Forks.  He graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School in 1996. Jason worked at The Blue Moose Bar and Grill, an original team member when it opened in 1994. He began work at the Grand Forks Air Force Base Commissary as a civil employee in 2002.  During his youth, Jason played football, hockey, baseball and tennis. He was a passionate and devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, “Go Pack Go”; UND Football, an avid tailgater often arriving at 8:00 AM for home games and greeting the individual players as they entered the stadium; UND Hockey and continuing to follow the individual careers of his favorite UND players in the NHL. Jason also loved music ranging from Trampled by Turtles, Vanilla Ice, Rick Springfield and Lorie Line. Jason would accompany his dad and Gary Morin to the Friday night racing at the River Cities Speedway, where his love of racing began. They often would visit the pits after the conclusion of racing to talk with Jason’s favorite racers.  In 1998, the Boppre and Morin males began their annual trip to Knoxville, Iowa for sprint car racing.  Jason purchased his yearly racing attire while attending.  Jason, Greg and Patrick attended the 50th Anniversary of Daytona NASCAR racing in 2008.  Jason loved to spend time with his family. “Family Matters Most” he was often heard to say.  He enjoyed watching his brother and sister playing sports. He coached them both in the Park Board Program.  He continued to watch them play their various sports, attending the games and cheering them on.  He would also call them after the game to let them know he was proud of them and, of course, to tease them about any actions resulting in a penalty.  Jason deeply loved his grandparents, calling them at least once a week to check up on them and share any new updates.  He had special bonds with all of his aunts, uncles and cousins.  Jason enjoyed many friendships over the years. If he knew someone in need, he was always there to lend a hand.  Those who shared in his life: parents, Greg and Jeanne, brother, Patrick (Anna), sister, Janelle (Jacob) and favorite niece Kaia, many cherished uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and girlfriend Jody Oliver.  Jason was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin and his grandparents, Lloyd Boppre, Lyle and Cathy Weeks.Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church of East Grand Forks, MN.
