Leslie, “Les” Mark Johnson, 59, Grand Forks, died Saturday, July 22, 2017 in his home. Les was born on August 20, 1957 in Michigan, ND the son of Julian and Marilyn (Johnson) Johnson. He grew up attending school in Niagara, ND where he graduated from Niagara High School. Later he attended AVTI, where he graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Parts and Sales. Les waited until the right woman came along to get married. At the age of 40, he married Leslie Okke on August 22, 1997 in St Mark’s Lutheran Church, Grand Forks. They lived in Grand Forks where they built their home. Les worked at Strata, Cenex, and as a farm hand before he started working at Wells Concrete (Concrete Inc.) as a Purchasing Manager and Shop Manager for 21 years until his retirement in 2015. He loved to hunt, both with his bow and his guns, fishing and going bowling. He helped his mom make lefse and Les loved the outdoors and landscaping. He was a tinkerer, fixing anything that needed his attention around the house. He was always the supervisor giving his expert opinion. He liked to recycle, collecting cans at work, and crushing them. Most importantly, Les was an honest man and had a big heart. He would go out of his way to help anyone that needed it. Les is survived by his wife Leslie, Grand Forks, mother Marilyn Johnson, Grand Forks, daughters: Adria (Dusty) Litzinger, Devil’s Lake, Paige (Dave) Krause, East Grand Forks, grandsons: Ryder Litzinger, and Everett and Issac Krause, cousins and aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, brother LeRoy and his grandparents: John and Ida Johnson, Emma and Selmer Johnson and niece Dayviene. Memorial service will be held Friday, July 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
