Charlotte "Char" Leona Beauchamp

July 28, 1934 — August 8, 2017

            Charlotte L. Beauchamp, age 83 of Grand Forks, ND passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Transitional Care Unit (Valley Memorial Homes) of Grand Forks.             Charlotte L. Mostad was born July 28, 1934 in Vang, ND on the family farm, the daughter of the late Oscar and Hellen (Johnson) Mostad.  She was baptized in 1934 at the Vang Lutheran Church.  She attended Hope #2, Country School, Vang, ND and graduated from Walhalla High School in 1952.  She attended Mayville State Teachers College the summers of 1952 and 1953; she obtained a second grade elementary certificate.  Charlotte was united in marriage to Hector R. Beauchamp on November 4, 1953.  The couple made their home in Drayton, ND.  While in Drayton she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  She worked in the Laundry Department of the Drayton Hospital from 1969-1973.  She then worked for American Crystal Sugar as payroll coordinator until retirement in 1997.  Hector and Charlotte moved to Grand Forks, ND in 1998 to enjoy their retirement years.  They wintered in Arizona for a couple of years, where they went to visit friends/family and played cards.  Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her children, granddaughter, great grandchildren, and anyone else who stopped to visit.  Charlotte was deeply religious and was a member of the St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Drayton, ND from 1969 to 1998.  After retirement she became a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church of Grand Forks, from 1998 to the present. Charlotte’s hobbies included cooking, reading, playing cards, music and square dancing.  She was instrumental in organizing important events in the 1950’s and 1960’s such as concerts in Leroy, ND from well-known Nashville bands such as Johnny Horton, Kitty Wells, Johnny Cash, and the Preston Love Band. Charlotte was a classy lady who enjoyed looking well, including her hair, make-up and clothing.  She believed that if you looked good, you would feel better and she found this to be true up to the end.             Charlotte is survived by her husband, her children: Terry (Donna) Beauchamp, Dayton, NV; Gerry (Ava) Beauchamp, Drayton, ND; Robert (Lisa) Beauchamp, Grand Forks, ND; one granddaughter, Stephanie Beauchamp, Surrey, ND; two great grandchildren, Gavin and Garrett Krout, Surrey, ND; sister, Norma Smith, Sacramento, CA; sister Doreen (Elvin) Thorlakson, Cavalier, ND; brother Dennis (Beverly) Mostad, Portland, Oregon; brother Orlo (Lorraine) Mostad, Cavalier, ND; brother Manferd (Mary) Mostad, Walhalla, ND; sister-in-law Earleen Mostad, Walhalla, ND.  Several nieces and nephews also survive her.  Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Cindy Marie, brother Jerdis Mostad, brother Rollin Mostad, brother-in-law Allan Smith, and sister-in-law Carol Mostad.             Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 14, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church.  Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral mass at 11:00 am.  Lunch will be served immediately following the funeral.  Interment will be at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church Cemetery, Olga, ND.
