ALLYN O. MARIFJEREN Allyn O. Marifjeren, age 83 of Grand Forks, died on August 9, 2017 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Allyn O. Marifjeren, a son of Selmer and Mary (Fingarson) Marifjeren, was born on May 12, 1934 at Park River, ND. He was reared and educated in the area. After high school, he attended North Dakota Agricultural College (NDSU) in Fargo. Allyn graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural. On November 15, 1957, he entered the US Air National Guard. Allyn began working for Agsco as an Ag Specialist. On May 25, 1973, he was married the love of his life Atha Lee (Lee) Lulay at Grand Forks. Allyn Was honorably discharged on August 31, 1977, and joined the Air Force Reserves. He retired from Agsco in 1990 after 34 years of service. Allyn retired from the Air Force Reserve in 1990. Lee passed away on December 30, 2014. He has continued to make Grand Forks his home. He was a member of the Alpha Gama Rho Fraternity and was a lifelong champion of the Fraternity. Allyn kept in contact with his fellow fraternity brothers. He enjoyed playing bridge. In 1989, he was honored by the Red River Valley Potato Growers Association. Allyn and Lee spent their winter months in Palm Spring, CA area for 21 years. They traveled enough together to circle the earth 9 ½ times. Allyn especially liked to spend time with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Cathey (Ray) Tozer of Thompson; son Greg Lulay of Bellingham, WA; grandchildren, Jessi Tozer, Jared Tozer, JoriLee Bushaw all of Thompson and Joe Lulay of Chicago, IL; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Jaxson Lacey, Hayden, Willow and Noah. Allyn was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother, Earl.
