Leona Bridget Eng, 91, Grand Forks and formerly of Thompson, ND, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Valley Memorial Home Eldercare, Grand Forks.Leona Bridget Wosick, daughter of John and Susan (Plutowski) Wosick, was born October 8, 1925 in Warsaw, ND. She attended grade school at P.S. 86, then attended Oslo High School, graduating in 1943. Leona very much liked working in farm fields, shocking, driving tractor and picking potatoes. In the fall of 1943, she moved to California with her sister. They worked at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, CA from 1943 to 1945. She then moved to Milwaukee, WI and worked for Citizens Abstract for a year before moving to Grand forks where she worked for implement dealers and an insurance company.Leona married Joseph Bergum on June 22, 1948 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Warsaw. They had four children, John, Nancy, Lee and Deb. Leona worked at the East Grand Forks American Legion for 15 years.Leona married Robert Eng on April 30, 1966. They had one son, Robert. She worked at Eng Hardware and the American Legion.Leona belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the St Jude’s Prayer Chain. She liked to play cards and Bingo and enjoyed trips to the casino. She also enjoyed embroidery, crochet, working crossword puzzles, reading, watching TV and Jigsaw puzzles. She worked at the school during election time for 25 years.Survivors include her sons, John “Terry” (Gail) Bergum, Hibbing, MN, and Robert Eng, Plymouth, MN; daughters, Lee (Rod) Helgenset, Alexandria, MN, Debra (Ken) Vein, Grand Forks, and Nancy Branby, Detroit Lakes, MN; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alice Wosick, Grand Forks and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; brothers, Bruce, Ernest and Johnnie; sister, Beatrice (Frank) Ebertowsk; son-in-law, Tom Branby; and sister-in-law, PollyAnn Wosick. Leona was the last member of her immediate family.Memorial Mass will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 26, 2017 in St. Jude’s Catholic Church of Thompson, ND.
