Clarice Ann Torrance of Grand Forks, North Dakota, passed away on October 2, 2017, at Altru Hospital at the age of 87. Clarice was born June 14, 1930, to David and Tillie Karver on a farm near Crookston, Minnesota. Clarice grew up and attended grades 1-8 in a one-room country school and then went on to Central High School in Crookston where she graduated with the Class of 1948. On November 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to Gerald Torrance, her roller-skating sweetheart and love of her life, in Crookston, Minnesota. Clarice was an avid bowler for many years, serving as Secretary on the Queen Pins and His and Hers Mixed Leagues. She also enjoyed her ceramics classes, playing Whist with friends, reading books and cherishing time with her grandchildren. Clarice was an avid fan of the Minnesota Wild. Her family was very important to her, and she chose to be a “stay at home Mom” versus seeking a career. She always answered the phone for Torrance Plumbing and Heating and after the children grew up, she worked as an apprentice plumber alongside her husband. Family members of Clarice include her children, Pamela (Dan) Keskeys, Virginia Beach, Virginia; Gregory (Dee) Torrance, Centennial, Colorado; Lynn (Steve) Redlin, Portland, Oregon; Sheri Torrance, Grand Forks, North Dakota; and Alan (Peggy) Torrance, Wahpeton, North Dakota. She is also survived by her grandchildren – Michael Keskeys, Matthew Keskeys, Olivia Torrance, Samuel Torrance, Danielle Torrance, Cassandra Torrance, and Austin Torrance; her great granddaughter, Taelor Torrance-Frankl; her brother, Lawrence Karver, Crookston, Minnesota; along with several nieces and nephews. Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gerald, and her sisters, Betty Barkie and Donna Mead. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Woodside Village, Valley Memorial Homes. A “Celebration of Life” will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
