Howard Kyllo

October 16, 1932 — October 4, 2017

Howard Curtis Kyllo, at the age of 84, after a struggle with cancer died on Wednesday October 4th, 2017, in Larimore, North Dakota. He is survived by the love of his life, his adoring wife, Elizabeth (Boulden) Kyllo, their two children, son, David Kyllo, and daughter, Joanie Kyllo, their two grandchildren, Artiera Evans and Kayla (Kyllo) (Darin) Elke, and one great-granddaughter, Avery Elke. He always cherished family and was so proud of them. He is also survived by his siblings that he loved so much, sisters Louise Benz, Mary (Ray) Beard, Ruth Olson, and brother, Roger (Joan) Kyllo, and many nieces and nephews whom he thoroughly enjoyed. Howard was born on October 16, 1932, to parents Clarence Kyllo and Ida (Solseng) Kyllo on the family farm near McCanna, ND. He attended NDSU for one year and took a six-week winter course.  He was a farmer at heart, raising grains, black angus cattle, and selling milk for a few years. Howard was very active in community affairs serving on the McCanna Elevator Board for several years, the Farm Bureau Board of Directors, the Advisory Board at Larimore Good Samaritan Center, Chairman of the Administrative Board and Trustees for several years, and in other capacities in the Larimore United Methodist Church. Howard was known and loved for his fantastic sense of humor, his Norwegian heritage, and his wonderful homemade candy! He had a wide range of t-shirts he sported regarding his Norwegian heritage or something funny that always attracted people’s attention. People marveled at his natural ability working with numbers and his memory (whether while playing cards/games or from something he read about) – No wonder Artiera called him a “human encyclopedia”! You are kindly requested to attend his funeral which is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.  with visitation starting at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017, at the Larimore United Methodist Church with a reception to follow in the dining room in the church basement for fellowship and refreshments. Pastor Raenelle Sorensen will officiate. His family members are very much thankful to all of you who extended help and support during the hard times. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Larimore United Methodist Church Narthex Fund, Bellevue Cemetery, or Larimore Good Samaritan Center.
