Elton Sondrol, 82, a longtime resident of Grand Forks, N.D., passed away Sunday October 15, 2017 in McAllen, Texas. Elton Duane Sondrol was born May 22, 1935 in Grand Forks, N.D., the son of Elmer and Beulah (Hanson) Sondrol. He attended school in Reynolds N.D., and graduated from Crookston Agricultural School. Shortly after graduation Elton entered the Marine Corp and served during the Korean War until 1953. He then attended Aaker’s Business College and went on to work in the construction field for many years with several companies as Project Manager. His last work site was with the building of Marvin Windows in Grafton ND for ICS Construction. He was married to Patricia Bushaw in 1957. Elton retired and moved to Texas in 1998. He enjoyed the warm winters, his friends and his Alamo home. Elton was an avid fisherman and hunter in both North Dakota and Canada. His love of the water, whether it be at a Minnesota Lake or the sandy beaches of Padre Island, these were always his “happy places”. Those left to miss his hearty laugh and “HOW are YOU?” are Daughters, Michelle Kuklok of Sacramento, CA, Monica Bill of Pace, Fl., And Jenall Huhner of Pace Fl; son, Scott (Kathy); 8 Grandchildren, Jocelyn (Gabe) Baldwin, Tyler (Annie), Ashley Cox, and Garrett, Ryan (Simone) Goldstone, Gregory (Danielle) Sondrol, Travis and Shay Bill; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Arlen (Lavern) and Leroy (Judy) Sondrol; sister, Bonnie (Ran) Rogeness; and many nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandsons, Cody Sondrol, and Justin Bill; his brother, Earl Sondrol; and son-in law, Tracy Bill. Memorial Services will be 10:30 AM Monday Nov. 20, 2017 in Faith Evangelical Free Church, 1400 24th Ave. S., Grand Forks, ND 58201. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery of Grand Forks. Memorials are preferred to the Grand Forks Northlands Rescue Mission.
