Eleanor Jones

Eleanor M. Jones, 77, Grand Forks, died Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks. Eleanor Mae Soderberg was born at Buxton, North Dakota to Joseph and Esther (Svaleson) Soderberg on May 3, 1940.  She attended school at Buxton and graduated from Buxton High School.  Eleanor attended Aakers  Business College in Grand Forks and later graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Elementary Education.  She was a third and fourth grade teacher at Central Valley School until she retired in 1987.  After she retired from teaching she worked in the business office at Sears and later at LaGrave Learning Center as a computer instructor for senior citizens. Eleanor cherished  spending time with her family, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren. She was proud to see her sons graduate from college, Mike from Concordia, and Brian from Lake Superior State.  She enjoyed playing the accordion and listening to polka music. Watching UND Hockey, working on crossword puzzles, growing plants, and going out to eat were some of her other favorite hobbies. Eleanor is survived by her two sons, Michael (Marsha) Jones, Brooklyn Center, MN, and Brian Jones (Kathy Urlacher), Fargo, ND;  two grandchildren, Aaron and Elijah;  siblings, Jean (Sander) Tureson, Greenbush, MN, Gary Soderberg, Rapid City, SD, Clyde (Carol) Soderberg, Buxton, ND, and Evelyn Fletcher, Fargo, ND.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and a nephew, Kevin Tureson.  Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m Monday, October 30, 2017 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Buxton, North Dakota with visitation one hour prior to the service in the church.  Interment will be in Soderberg Cemetery, Buxton, North Dakota.
