Evelyn Aleen Stenerson

July 4, 1927 — November 2, 2017

Evelyn Aleen Stenerson, 90, passed away on Thursday, November 02, 2017, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Evelyn was born July 4, 1927, in Tower City, ND, the daughter of George & Dagmar (Anderson) Gubrud.  She grew up and graduated from Tower City High School.  She married Gerhard Stenerson on September 29, 1950, in Moorhead, MN.  Together they lived in Parshall and New Town, ND before moving to Grand Forks in 1973.  Gerhard died in 1996. Evelyn worked as a nurse’s aide for many years.  In her retirement she was a foster grandparent at United Lutheran Church daycare.  She loved spending time with children, especially her grandchildren.  She enjoyed baking buns & lefse, traveling, and visiting with friends & family. Evelyn is survived by her children, Cynthia (Rich) Roberts, Lynne Puhr; grandchildren, Tammy (Mike) Busche, Mark Puhr, Chad Puhr, Crystal Stenerson, Hope Stenerson and Jennifer (James) Moe; daughter-in-law, Mari Lee Stenerson; son-in-law, Joe (Marcella) Laporte; brother-in-law, Roger Stenerson; sister-in-law, Solveig Swendseid  and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerhard; children, Gary Stenerson and Lorry Ann Laporte; siblings, Helen Syvertson, Arnold Glemming, Dagmar Janish, Florence Petersen and Gordon Gubrud and dear friend, Burnett Grove. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2017 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND.  Visitation will take place the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment: North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
