Bruce Wayne Hestdalen

Bruce Wayne Hestdalen, 69, passed away at his home in Grand Forks, ND, on Saturday, November 25, 2017. Bruce was born October 28, 1948, in Breckenridge, MN, the son of Melford & Betty (Shupe) Hestdalen.  He grew up and attended schools in Abercrombie, ND.  He received a Bachelor degree from MSUM and a Master’s degree from University of Phoenix. He served in the US Air Force and US Navy before his honorable discharge. He married Patricia Dickerson and combined they had eight children together. Bruce had several careers over his life such as a truck driver, a correctional officer at the Bastrop Federal Penitentiary, and most proudly he owned and operated a plumbing & heating company. He enjoyed barbecuing, outdoors, caring for his yard, and woodworking. He was a very active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Abercrombie where he served as a confirmation teacher, lay leader and church council member. Bruce is survived by his wife, Patricia of Texas ; sons, Bradley Hestdalen of Fort Collins, CO, Chuck (Sherry) Jackson of Wahpeton, ND, Jason (Monica) Jackson of Pearland, TX, Clint (Tracie) Jackson of League City, TX, Travis Jackson of Alvin, TX; daughters, Brenda (Carrie Pitcher) Deplazes of Grand Forks, Faith (Jessie) Rieger of Walcott, ND, Kristin Hoechst of Abercrombie, ND; brothers, Ronald (Kate) Hestdalen of Pennsylvania, Jason (Bobbi) Hestdalen of Fargo, ND; sister, Bonnie (Mike) Wiltse of Fargo, ND and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian; brother, Mike and granddaughter, Carissa Jackson. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 2 pm at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Abercrombie, ND.
