“When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.” Anita Renee (Field) Knoll, 69, of Grand Forks, North Dakota and formerly of Stephen, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 in Valley Memorial Home Eldercare. Anita Field was born in Warren, Minnesota on September 10, 1948 to John and Betty (Murray) Field. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at First Presbyterian Church in Stephen, Minnesota. She graduated from Stephen High School in 1966 and continued her education at Bemidji State College. Anita married the love of her life, Wayne (Red) Knoll on April 4, 1970. The newlyweds moved to Moorhead, Minnesota until 1975, when they returned back to Stephen to raise their two daughters, Heather and Bethany. Once her daughters were in school Anita started working outside the home at Stephen Seedhouse. Anita also worked at the Stephen Dairy Bar and then the Stephen Messenger until her retirement. Anita was active with the First Presbyterian Church and the Stephen Women’s Golf League. Anita enjoyed bowling, sewing, gardening, doing crossword puzzles, and golfing, where she won many league tournaments. Anita’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s school and athletic activities. Anita and Red moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota in 2013 to ensure she would never miss those activities. Anita was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2010. She along with her family became very active with the MN/ND Alzheimer’s Association Chapter. The “Fields of Dreams” team has participated in the Grand Forks Walk to End Alzheimer’s for the past five years because “If We Raise It, A Cure Will Come.” Anita is survived and treasured by her husband of 47 years, Wayne (Red); daughters Heather (Jon) Strandell, Bethany (Dustin) Hetletved; grandchildren Morgan and Jane Hetletved, Sam and Leo Strandell; sisters Sandee (Mark) Rasmussen, Myrna (Howard) Olsen; brother Bill (Donna) Field; sister-in-law Mary Jane Dufault, brothers-in-law Robert (Karen) Knoll, Allen (Sandy) Knoll, Michael (Malva) Knoll, Pat (Linette) Knoll, and Bradley (Diane) Knoll; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Anita is preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Field and her in-laws Henry and Frances Knoll. Memorial Services will be 11:00 Monday, December 4, 2017 at Sharon Lutheran Church, 1720 S. 20th St, Grand Forks.Visitation will be Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service in Sharon Lutheran Church.
