David A. Rau, 58, Grand Forks died peacefully at home of natural causes on Sunday, December 3, 2017. Born in Fargo on March 4, 1959, David was raised and educated in Grand Forks.  After graduating from Red River High School in 1977 he worked at Minnesota Dairy.  From 1980 until his death he worked at Minnkota Power Cooperative. David met and started dating Kathy (Bostrom) right out of high school.  The two were united in marriage on July 22, 1983 in Grand Forks, where they raised their family.  Dave was passionate about the game of hockey and excelled at playing it in high school and later with an adult league in Grand Forks.  He also enjoyed playing racquetball regularly as a young man. An avid outdoorsman, Dave loved animals of all kinds and was especially interested in wildlife conservation and sustainable hunting. He passed his love of hunting and fishing on to his two sons and began teaching his three-year-old grandson to fish at Ryan Lake just this past summer. All who knew Dave will miss his genuine, kind, caring nature, his quick wit and love of conversation.  He delighted in sharing information, stories and jokes with friends, neighbors and coworkers. He was a longtime member of Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks.
