Pauline H. “Buddy” Knutson, 93, Grand Forks, ND and formerly of East Grand Forks, MN, died Thursday, December 7, 2017 in Valley Memorial Home Eldercare, Grand Forks. Pauline Montcalm was born December 27, 1923 to Joseph and Josephine (Vaudrin) Montcalm in Gentilly, MN. She attended rural school until the 8th grade and then boarded and graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Crookston, MN where she received a teaching certificate. On December 2, 1949, she married Carl J. Knutson in Wadena, MN. In 1961, they moved to Bygland Township where they raised their 5 children. Pauline was well known for her embroidery, gardening, baking, cooking and generous hospitality. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of East Grand Forks. She is survived by sons, Rodney (Linda) Knutson, Bagley, MN, Dean Knutson, Randy (Valerie) Knutson and daughter, Karlene (Michael) Dieken, all of Grand Forks; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson. Pauline is preceded in death by her husband, Carl; son, Myron; great granddaughter, Amelia; 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Monday, December 11, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of East Grand Forks, MN. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery of East Grand Forks.
