Charles "Charlie" Elliot Moen

Charles “Charlie” Elliot Moen, 67, of Reynolds, ND, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Fargo, ND.Charlie was born December 6, 1950, in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Richard R.D. & Jean (Gjelsness) Moen.  He graduated from Central Valley School in Buxton, ND and attended NDSU.  He enlisted in the Army in 1969 and served in Vietnam. He married Arlette Nordby on July 19, 1975, and together they had 2 sons, James Elliott Moen and Nathan Christopher Moen.  Charlie farmed with his dad and brothers for many years and also worked at Ag Depot, CHS, and Dixon Brothers.  During his lifetime he enjoyed skydiving, rock climbing, scuba diving, and photography. He was an avid reader and at various times was a volunteer firefighter, an EMT, and a Special Deputy with the Traill County Sheriff’s Department.  He was a life-long political conservative and participated with the Grand Forks County and State Farm Bureau, Potato Growers Association, State Labor Board, and many other organizations.   Charlie is survived by his wife, Arlette; sons, James & Nathan (Steffany); mother, Jean Moen; siblings, Denise (Richard) Mork, Timothy (Angie) Moen, Michael (Lisa) Moen, Paul (RaeAnn Eliason) Moen, Jeffrey (Vicki) Moen; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard R.D. Moen; brother, Robert; sister, Tricia Moen; grandparents, Fred & Elizabeth Gjelsness and James & Adeline Moen.  Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Amundson Funeral Home 2975 S. 42nd St. Grand Forks, ND, with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to a favorite charity.
