Larry W. Johnson, 73, Grand Forks, ND, died Saturday, January 6, 2018 in Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND. Larry was born January 24, 1944 in Ohio, the son of Oscar and Hilma Johnson. At a young age, he moved to Grand Forks with his family. He graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1962 and then attended UND. Larry married Diane Johnson on September 25, 1964. They lived in Grand Forks where Larry was a longtime dedicated employee for Hugo’s Piggly Wiggly and later Hugo’s grocery stores. By the time of his retirement, Larry had worked in numerous positions at every Hugo’s store in Grand Forks and in the Crookston, MN store. Larry was also very mechanically inclined and worked as a mechanic out of the garage of his home. Larry had an adventurous appreciation for life. He loved fishing, camping and spending time at the lake. In his younger days, he enjoyed skiing and other water sports, raced motocross and built and raced speed boats. Larry is survived by his children, Lori (Jason) McCauley, Bismarck, ND, David (Dena) Johnson, Fargo, ND and Tami (Brian) Deziel, East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Matthew McCauley, Jesika (Eric) Jorgenson, Jenna McCauley and Aleisha Deziel; great grandchildren, Josh, Leah and Alyssa McCauley and Regean and Theodore Jorgenson; sister, Gail (Roger) Johnson, Fergus Falls, MN; brother, Bruce (Harriet) Johnson, Esko, MN. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Diane in 2005. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery of Grand Forks.
