Bobby G. “Bob” Noblin, 80, Grand Forks, ND, died Sunday, January 21, 2018 in Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, North Dakota. Bobby Gene Noblin, the son of Addis and Mary (Deese) Noblin was born September 22, 1937 at Cottonwood, Alabama. He moved with his family to the Tampa, Florida area where he was raised and educated. He served in the US Army. Bobby married Janet “Jan” Solseng on January 7, 1967. Bobby served two tours in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart awards. He was later stationed at Ft. Devens, MA, and upon retirement from military service in 1977, Bobby was given the Legion Of Merit Award. Bobby and Jan returned to live in Grand Forks where he was employed by Job Service, North Dakota until he retired on January 31, 2008. He was given the Pride and Performance Award in 1998 and was honored with the Governor’s Award For Excellence in Public Service. Bobby worked with a foreign exchange student program in the placement of students in Eastern North Dakota Schools. He was an active in Masons and was a member of the Malta Lodge in Grand Forks, Scottish Rite, York Rite, and the Kem Shriners. Bobby was also active with the local Republican Party. Bobby is survived by his wife, Jan Noblin, Grand Forks; a son, John Noblin, Grand Forks; 4 nieces and 4 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Jean, and Mary Helen; and a brother, Jimmy. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1405 S. 9th St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service, followed by a Masonic Service in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks. Memorials are preferred to Knights Templer Eye Foundation, Altru Cancer Center, Sunshine House, or Calvary Lutheran Church.
