DARRELL L. WEGGE Darrell Lamonte Wegge, age 84 of Grand Forks, died on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks. Visitation will be one hour before service time at the Funeral Home. Darrell Lamonte Wegge, a son of Thorwald Wegge and Shirley (Thoe) Skeim, was born on May 30, 1933 at Buxton. He was reared and educated in the area. On June 17, 1950 he entered the US Army. Darrell served in the Korean war. On July 9, 1953 he was honorably discharged. After his discharge he returned home. On December 2, 1957 he was married to Beverly Quist. After their marriage they moved to Grand Forks where he work as a sewing machine salesman. In 1969 they owned and operated the Baseview Café in Emerado until 1974. Darrell started doing carpentry work specializing in cabinets and remodeling. He was a Semi-retired builder until he retired in 2007. Darrell had continued to make Grand Forks his home. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking for his family and spending time with his grandchildren. Darrell was a Korean War Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Beverly at home; sons, Mark Wegge and Jeff Wegge; daughters, Sherry and her husband David Roe and Debbie and her husband Steve Raasakka; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lydia Kelly and Bonnie (Larry) Dvorak and a brother Gary Skeim.
