Fayma McGuigan

Fayma K McGuigan,88,  died Jan. 26, 2018 at Valley Eldercare, Grand Forks.                     Fayma Kathleen McGuigan was born 4-27-29 to Viola Ruth  (Johnson) and Clarence N. Strand in Abercrombie, ND. She grew up on a farm and attended country school. She attended Wahpeton State School of Science obtaining a bookkeeping degree. She met her future husband, Melvin Dan, while working as a claims clerk for the IRS in Fargo, ND. They married in 1952. Later jobs were Minot Anderson Motors, Valley Vision Eye Clinic, GF Clinic Records, and UND Twamley Financial Aid. Faye was a  longtime member of United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND. She was in the ULCW and  quilters group. She was in a knitting club, sung with the Sweet Adelines, the North Star Quilters Guild, liked to garden, knit, sew make quilts, play piano, needlepoint, embroidery, crafts  and framed pictures, make dolls and doll clothes, clothes for family, and decorations. She was a very good cook and baker. She especially liked to bake for family and neighbors. Faye enjoyed music, including music concerts of her husband Dan, children, and grandchildren. Her favorite music was Big Band Swing music, orchestra, band, and that from the Lawrence Welk show . She also attended her grandchildren's tennis matches. Faye is survived by her husband, Melvin Dan, children Nancy (David), Mark (Teresa), Kathy (Vincent) , Dan, and grandchildren Tara, Tashi, Ryan, Rachel, Laura, Angela (Tyler) and John and sisters Ruth Strand and Shirley Ruud. She was proceed in death by her parents and sister Ardelle Schuldheisz. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at United Lutheran Church, 324 Chestnut St., Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks. Memorials preferred to United Lutheran Church's Radio Fund or Music Fund.
