Michael R. “Mike” Frovarp, 58, East Grand Forks, MN. died Thursday, February 8, 2018 in Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Mike was born December 29, 1959 in Moorhead, MN, the son of Marvin and Shirley (Krabbenhoft) Frovarp. He was raised and educated in Kensington, MN. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force, married Cindy Heuer on September 16, 1978. Mike served in several places including Turkey, Rapid City, SD and at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. He retired from the Air Force in 1998 after 20 years of service. He worked for Lumber Mart, then began working for BAE Systems and moved to Las Vegas, NV. In 2010, Mike took a position with Raytheon as a contractor and lived in Plumas Lake, CA before coming to East Grand Forks in 2011 to work at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. He enjoyed every part of being in the military, over the years he also enjoyed watching sports, fishing, motorcycles, horses, weekends at the camper and going to gatherings with friends and family. He married Shelly Johnson on February 4, 2011 in California. She survives along with sons, Joshua (Nicole), Prior Lake, MN, and Jacob (Alina), Longview, WA; step son, Chris VanValkenburg, Nelson, MN; granddaughter, Gracelyn; mother, Shirley (Laverne) Skare, Alexandria, MN; brothers, Mark (Karen) Frovarp, Grand Forks, ND, Scott Frovarp, Hoffman, MN, Rick (Carol) Frovarp, Moorhead, MN, Karl (Julie) Frovarp, Alexandria, MN and Troy Frovarp, Alexandria, MN; numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his father. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, flowers and contributions. Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Calvary Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church.
