Janet M. Torgerson, 80, Grand Forks, ND, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in Valley Memorial Home Eldercare, Grand Forks. Janet Marlene Kvasager was born on January 4th, 1938 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Knute and Olga (Anderson) Kvasager. She grew up in rural Arvilla and Manvel, North Dakota. She married Truman Torgerson on June 16th, 1956. Their marriage was blessed with four sons. Janet was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. After the death of Truman, Janet worked a number of jobs to provide for her family including the Salvation Army Daycare, C&R Laundry, and Ramada Inn. When she was able to “retire”, she worked as a Foster Grandmother in schools and daycares. Janet rejoiced in her eleven grandchildren, their spouses, and her three great-grandchildren. She loved to plan and cook for family celebrations. Her door was always open to family members, friends, and neighbors alike. She showed her love by giving. Her dearest love and deepest hope was in her Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, her husband Truman, and her son Randy. She is survived by two brothers: Arvin Kvasager, Grand Forks, ND and Clayton (Bernice) Kvasager, Ardoch, ND; one sister: Lois Cariveau, East Grand Forks, MN; three sons: Terry (Darlene) Torgerson, LaCrosse, WI; Dean Torgerson, Grand Forks, ND; Joel (Tammy) Torgerson, Fargo, ND; a daughter-in-law Carol Torgerson, Grand Forks, ND; eleven grandchildren: John (Shana) Torgerson, Superior, WI; Daniel (Mary) Torgerson, Madison, WI; Michael Torgerson, LaCrosse, WI; Anna Torgerson, Madison, WI; Amy (Shaun) Puppe, Bemidji, MN; Melissa (Matt) Bakke, Grand Forks, ND; Matthew Torgerson, Eden Prairie, MN; Darren Torgerson, Eagan, MN; Heather Torgerson (Nick Lunski), Grand Forks, ND; Rachel and Kristi Torgerson, Fargo, ND; and three great-grandchildren: Brayden Puppe, Payton Bakke, Jaina Torgerson. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be Friday, April 6, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in East Walle Lutheran Cemetery near Thompson, ND in the late spring.
