Hazel Klein, 81, Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Valley Eldercare. Hazel Avron was born November 8, 1936, in Manvel, ND, the daughter of Andrew and Margaret (Danielson) Avron. She was raised and attended country schools near Manvel. Hazel married Alton Schroeder in 1957. They lived in Grand Forks. Alton died in 1966. Hazel married Jake Klein in 1967. Hazel worked as a waitress at Opal’s Café in East Grand Forks, MN, and at the Tomahawk Truck Stop in Grand Forks. She also worked for many years as a custodian at the University of North Dakota, and later for RDO Foods. Jake died in 2002. Hazel enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, listening to country music, watching “I Love Lucy,” and playing Bingo. She had a heart of gold and the patience of a saint. Survivors include three children: Marcel (Schroeder) Robles (Jim Larsgaard), Brian Klein, and Gerald Klein; six grandchildren: Crystal (Mike) Wood, Rudy, Jr. (Julie) Robles, Heidi (Ricardo Minguela) Robles, Bianca (Tommy) Wallace, Jaycee Klein, and Kyle Klein; Great-grandchildren: Zach, Dominick, and Wyatt Robles Minguela; Truman and Tucker Wood; and Maya Robles; sisters Evelyn (Richard) Schroeder and Helen (Ormond) Wilkins. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Alton and Jake, and by her siblings: Caroline (Jake) Pesch, Madeline (Oliver) Vold, Odin (Martha) Avron, Mary (Alvin) Sondrol, Clarence (Ethel) Avron, Alice (Larry) Connor, Mabel (Tracy) Thurston, Alton Avron, and Rennee Avron. Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 21, at 11:00 am at Augustana Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Visitation is Friday, April 20, from 5:00-7:00 pm with a 6:30 pm Prayer Service at Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks. Burial will be in Memorial Park South Cemetery, Grand Forks.
