Kenneth N. Norlin

Kenneth N. Norlin, 81, Grand Forks, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in Valley Memorial Homes Eldercare Center, Grand Forks. Kenneth Norris Norlin, the son of Okie and Gladys Norlin was born on November 8, 1936 in East Grand Forks, Minnesota.  He was raised and educated in East Grand Forks, and is a graduate of East Grand Forks Senior High School.  He continued his education at Aakers Business College in Grand Forks.  Kenneth served in the US Navy from October 22, 1954 to October 1, 1957 during the Korean War in order to provide support for his family. Kenneth married Sylvia M.  Zon. They were married for 47 years prior to her death on October 12, 2016.   He loved to watch television and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins.  Ken enjoyed solving crossword puzzles.  He was an excellent bowler, participating in local bowling leagues and in tournaments, earning many bowling trophies.  Kenneth is survived by his children, Victoria (Dean) Soltis, Christine (Bruce) Spicer, Suellyn Medley, David Zon, Daniel (Lila) Marquart, Douglas Zon, Donald Zon, Michael Norlin, Robert Norlin, 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson;  a sister, Debra (Donald) Beck, Grand Forks; a brother, Robert (Betty) Norlin;  many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Syliva;  his parents; a brother, Gordon.  Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be  3:00 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2018 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 215 Belmont Rd., Grand Forks.   Visitation will be for one hour prior to the mass in the church.  Interment with military honors will be in Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks.
