June 30, 1972 — April 28, 2018

DENA GAGNON-SHADWICK   Dena Gagnon- Shadwick, age 45 of Cavalier, died on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Amundson Funeral Home in Grand Forks. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Dena Gagnon- Shadwick, a daughter of Richard Gagnon and Kathleen Gibson, was born on June 30, 1972 in Keene, NH. At a young age she moved with her family to Texas for a time. When she was 15 she moved to Vermont with her family and graduated high school. In 1996 Dena moved back to Texas and worked at Laughlin Airforce Base as the manager for the Haz-Mat office. In 2007 she moved to Cavalier and began working at Crystal Sugar in Drayton. She then worked at Gregory Ford in Cavalier and 2016 Dena began working at Marvin Windows in Grafton. She enjoyed watching movies, singing loudly, dancing sillily, playing board games and doing arts and crafts with her daughters. Dena was a dedicated, hardworking, single mother. She would wake up before dawn to make it to her job in Grafton then be home to help Sofie study her spelling words and barter with Shay to do the dishes. She was a delight and joy to be around. Dena had wonderful rapport with her coworkers and excelled in her work. Her mother was her best friend. Life wasn’t always easy. But if there is one thing Dena made sure to do, it was giving my sisters and I lessons in strength, perseverance and independence. She was going to prove that no matter what obstacles got in her way, she was going to make it ...and she wasn't going to need a man to do it! Lol She is survived by her daughters, Emma Gagnon of Ft. Worth, TX, Shay Shadwick and Sofie Peterson both of Cavalier; a granddaughter, Charlee Ferguson; her mother, Kathleen Gibson of Hillsville, VA; brothers, Kirk Gagnon of Stafford VA and Richard Gagnon of Hillsville VA; nieces, Madison Gagnon and Hadley Gagnon; nephews, Andrew Gagnon, Ethan Gagnon and Chris Gagnon.
