After growing up in Southern New Mexico, Cleonia and her family moved to El Paso, TX. She graduated from Austin High School, where she was involved in G.F.A.C.; F.H.A.; P. E. Leader; Football Court ‘50; Beauty Contest ’48 – ‘50; Austin-in-Action ’46, ‘50; and Student Council. Cleonia had the great honor of being selected as the El Paso Centennial Queen in 1950. She then attended Texas Western College, where she was involved in Zeta Tau Alpha and many campus, church and community activities. She earned a BS in Education in 1954. After college, she wed James D. Agee, Sr. She joined him in Hawaii with sons, Jimmy and Bart, where he was stationed during the Korean Conflict. They returned to El Paso several years later, and added a daughter, Kathryn, to the family. Cleonia was very active in community and church activities, and taught school for many years. Several years after a divorce from Jim Sr., she married COL Martin Olson in 1984 in Texas. They moved to Madison, AL. Martin was stationed at Redstone Arsenal. Martin retired from the Army after 30 years of active duty. Martin started his new civilian job in Northern Virginia. They moved to VA where they bought a home in Clifton in 1988. Everywhere they lived, Cleonia was active in the Church and in reaching out to all around them. They have been active members of the Centreville Baptist Church for 30 years where they were Team Teachers for 3rd and 4th Grade Sunday School for 24 years. Cleonia related very well with each student and their families. Cleonia suffered two major bouts of colon cancer over the years. After determining that the cancer had returned with a vengeance and metastasized throughout her body, Cleonia decided not to pursue further aggressive treatment. She entered Hospice Care at home. She and Martin prayed earnestly for her healing as did many friends and family in many places. But our Lord chose not to heal her this time. She was failing fast from the cancer that was in one lung, bones, and in lymph nodes. It was a blessing that she was spared from further pain and mental anguish of her condition. And our Lord came to take her home with Him at 10:15 PM May 29th. The family wants to express their gratitude and appreciation to all of the doctors, nurses, and medical professional who treated and helped Cleonia over the years. The family also wants to express their appreciation to the many family members and friends who prayed for and supported Cleonia and Martin over the years. A Celebration Of Life will be held, Monday, June 11, 2018, at 11:00 am, at Centreville Baptist Church, 15100 Lee Highway, Centreville, VA 20120 with Rev. Bill Hatcher, officiating.
