Keith H. Johnson, 87, Grand Forks, ND, died Monday, January 27, 2020 at Valley Senior Living on Columbia, Grand Forks.
Keith Harry Johnson was born February 9, 1932 in Grand Forks, the son of Victor and Thelma (Bowen) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Grand Forks and graduated from Central High School in 1950. Keith attended a training course in Minneapolis, MN to become a telegrapher-agent with Great Northern Railway. He worked for the Great Northern in Montana, Idaho and Washington state.
Keith Joined the U.S. Army and served as a radio operator with the 25th infantry division stationed in Korea. After his service, he returned to Grand Forks and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota in 1959. While attending UND, Keith sold cookware then, after graduation, he joined the John Ingwalson Insurance Agency where he worked until 1973 when he founded the Keith Johnson Insurance Agency located in the South Forks Plaza Mall. He continuously owned and operated his insurance agency until his retirement in 1999.
Keith married Jane Berg on September 14, 1957. Together they loved to travel and took numerous trips to different parts of the world. They were also very involved in Augustana Lutheran Church of Grand Forks where Keith served on the church council and various committees over the years.
Survivors include his wife, Jane, Grand Forks; sons, Brad Johnson (Gloria Thomas), Atlanta, GA, and Reed (Pam) Johnson, Lake Elmo, MN; granddaughter, Sarah Jane (Stephen) Manor, West St. Paul, MN; great granddaughter, Edith Jane Manor; brother, Ronald (Ardia) Johnson, Grand Forks.
Keith was preceded in death by an infant son, Paul Johnson; sisters, Harriette Anderson and Helen Davidson; and by a brother, Alvin Johnson.
Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 31, 2020 at Augustana Lutheran Church of Grand Forks. Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church. Military honors will be provided by the North Dakota Army National Guard.
